HISTORY OF
THE TEATONS PROJECT

The story of how "teatons" came about and how the whole project spead the world over in under two years began with a simple idea by The Teatons Project creator, Jonny Roasta, one fateful day...

- JULY 12TH, 2005 -

Jonathan Smeby (aka Jonny Roasta) created the idea for The Teatons and the very first teaton while in the classroom of a community college in California...

This set the pattern for the original Teatons idea: 1) Create random art containing the title "The Teatons" and the signiture "R!", 2) Stick it up in a public place, and 3) Take a photo for proof...

Jonny's idea was to see if one idea (the teatons brand art) could reach cities and countries all around the world, each with the connecting stamp of teatondom, the "R!" signiture!

But he would need to gain support from others first...

The Teatons grew rapidly... Minions in various cities and countries joined the effort of spreading Teatons days after the idea was thought up and a complete website used as The Teatons base was finished a week later...

- AUGUST/OCTOBER, 2005 -

THE TEATONS EMPIRE IS ESTABLISHED!

The basic idea was installed, and more and more minions joined by the day and began creating their own teatons to leave in public in their own towns and cities, and send photos in for the website...

Also in august, the project's original website becme too small to support the growing teatons gallery, so TEATONS.COM is bought and becomes the new head quarters of the project...

- NOVEMBER 15TH, 2005 -

TEATONS ASSIGNMENTS ASSIGNED!
With a decent group of minions working on spreading The Teatons around the world now, the Teaton Assignments began!
Minions were given tasks to accomplish and to come back, as always, with proof of their deeds...

For their first assignment, minions would have to place teatons on the backs of unsuspecting COMPLETE STRANGERS in society without their knowing, and get photographic proof as well. This began the start of all manner of teaton related mischief that The Teatons would become know for...

- DECEMBER 21ST, 2005 -

Hardcore teatons supporter
Piur pioneered the first (but certainly not last) Teatons Tour, crossing countries throughout Europe and even teatoning airports and airliner planes along the way...

This lead the way to many other minions over the years to spread teatons where ever they traveled, eventually leading to The Teatons Project reaching China, Japan, and other locations...

- January 29th, 2006 -

The Teatons gallery reaches over 500 submitted teatons after around half a year of the project's running, but a LOT more were to come...

NOT JUST COMICS ANYMORE
Though The Teatons began as comicstrips and drawings on paper, the many talents of The Teatons minions were soon expressed in every form possible...

- MARCH 5TH, 2006 -

The Teatons Music Contest ends resulting in the project's first music album release later that year. Teatons would also grow in other art forms including animation, film, comics, and more. Teatons Music becomes know for artists as The Giant S-Dukes, B0dybu1l3r, and the talented Mark Gobbin of Australia.

- APRIL 9TH, 2006 -

BIGGEST TEATONS
CONTEST

The infamous Biggest Teatons Contest was annouced, which would lead to the battle to make the largest teaton and get away with sticking it up in public... Not an easy task.

The results ended with The S-Dukes of California and their massive teatons art in second place as AaronKI of Ilinois in first place with a teaton of simply ABSURD SIZE: 24 feet by 8 feet!

GROUP TEATONING IS COOL

The Teatons just kept growing with seemingly endless ideas of awesumness. Over time, gangs of teaton minions formed in different areas around the world. Most infamous of course being the likes of IGP CREW with its original members Zach, Ethan, Cody, and Ryan of Michigan. Also to be noted: The Giant S-Dukes with Piur abd MC Volcano Fight, and Team 3000 with Sergio Cornaga, Liam 3000, and others of New Zealand.

- July 8th, 2006 -

TEATONS MAKE THE NEWS!
While the minions were just having fun doing their teatons thing,
little did they know that they were beginning to gain notice by others. This included a certain newspaper reporter in IGP CREW's hometown of Midland, Michigan...

- July 12th, 2006 -

TEATONS DAY!
The Teatons Project's first year anniversary! Leading up to the first "Teatons Day",
a huge marathon was held resulting in minions sticking around 250 teatons in one week in locations around the world! Much craziness resulted, including some angry parents in Michigan, but that's besides the point...

AND SO TIME GOES ON...

formula documented in 2006 The formula for the entire project really boiled down to the simple formula behind the original teatons idea itself from the day it began: 1) Take an idea, with the purpose to simply 2) See if t can be done, just for the heck of it, with the help of 3) Teamwork from other teaton minions and the result being that you succeeded in 4) Doing something!

Teatons became like a formula against uncreativity...

Eventually in 2007 things began to change. Something wasn't exactly right, and seperate from the project a very big decision was made by The Teatons creator...

- MARCH 2007 -

JONNY LEAVES THE TEATONS

IT'S TRUE! Early March of 2007, Jonny Roasta the "leader" of The Teatons Project announces his decision to leave the project. Many are devistated and threaten to quit themselves. Panic breaks out and nothing is certain anymore. WHAT IS TO BECOME OF THE TEATONS NOW?

- JUNE 2007 -

By now the project has ground almost to a halt and no updates are made to the website. Though some of the other minions thought they could take it on themselves, no one could get much done.

Some blame Jonny, but with the website's gallery for displaying the projects 2000+ submissions and the forums down now as well, things are looking worse. With no easy way up sharing their teatons art online or communicating outside of email, I dunno, people got lazy or something. Bad stuff happened...

- July 12th, 2007 -

Two complete years had now past since the beginning of The Teatons Project. In just a couple months things went downhill fast though. Eventually Jonny just decided it was best to close The Website. And so it remained for months, cold and silent.

THE END OF
THE TEATONS

But was it really the end of The Teatons? Had the project that began so simple and basic, went on to become worldwide and a little out of control, and eventually something good and creative and AWESUM really just up and died? It pretty much did. But even that didn't stop The Teatons Project.

What becomes of it now isn't certain, but hopefully something great, whatever it might be...

KEEP SPREADING THE ART. ON WITH CREATIVITY AND DOING STUFF! VIVA LA TEATONS, INDEED...

VIVA LA TEATONS, INDEED!

SPECIAL THANKS TO: Everyone who stuck with The Teatons all these years and worked together to make art for art's sake and no money, no reason, just because we gotta keep doing stuff. IT'S JUST TIGHT LIKE THAT
